Reasonable Accommodation
Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act allows for employees who have a disability or disabilities that impact their ability to perform the essential functions of their job to apply for a Reasonable Accommodation. Reasonable Accommodation requests require specific paperwork, which can be obtained by contacting a benefits rep.
Employees requesting Reasonable Accommodation will be required to submit a medical questionnaire completed by their health care provider which explains the nature of the disability or condition and suggests possible accommodations. The benefits rep assigned to your request may ask follow up questions of you and of your health care provider. The benefits rep will likely also have questions of your supervisor without revealing your confidential medical information. These conversations make up the Interactive Process which is necessary to reach a determination regarding your request for accommodation.
Your benefits rep will work with the VP of Human Resources to make a determination on your accommodation request based on whether your request is deemed to cause undue hardship. You may be offered an accommodation that is different from what you requested but which aligns with your health care provider’s recommendations.
For more information or to begin a request for reasonable accommodation, please submit a benefits ticket.
